ABS Control Modules, Pumps, Boosters, and Master Cylinders, Tested Before Shipping

Trinity Auto Parts sells used OEM and remanufactured anti-lock brake system parts: ABS control modules, ABS pumps, combined pump and module assemblies, power brake boosters, and brake master cylinders for cars, trucks, and SUVs. Each part comes from a well-maintained running vehicle, is fully tested and inspected before it ships, and is matched to your VIN so the connector, ports, and software are right.

The ABS module reads the wheel speed sensors and commands the hydraulic pump to pulse brake pressure so the wheels keep rolling during a hard stop. When it fails, the ABS and often the traction control lights stay on and the anti-lock function is gone, even though the regular brakes still work. Because many modules must be programmed to the vehicle, ask us whether the unit for your vehicle can ship pre-programmed.

What you get with every ABS part

Inspection and testing before shipping

Modules are checked for connector damage, corrosion, and stored faults. Hydraulic units are inspected for leaks and seized valves, and pump motors are tested. Boosters are checked for diaphragm leaks and master cylinders for bore condition and seepage.

VIN-matched fitment

ABS modules change by year, trim, drivetrain, and options such as traction or stability control, and a look-alike unit with the wrong software will not communicate. We confirm the exact unit against your VIN before it ships.

Warranty and shipping

Every ABS part ships with a warranty, and select parts carry coverage up to 2 years. Shipping is free across the USA and Canada, and if the part does not fit, return shipping is free. Most orders reach continental US addresses in 3 to 5 business days.

Why buy from Trinity Auto Parts

Three decades of used OEM parts

We have been in business since 1990 and are BBB accredited. Brake parts are not something to buy from an unknown seller; our testing, warranty, and free returns mean you do not have to.

Pre-programmed options where available

For many vehicles we can supply an ABS module already programmed for your VIN, which avoids a dealer visit. Where a unit must be programmed on the car, we tell you up front so your shop can plan the job.

ABS Control Module and Brake Parts Buyer’s Guide

This guide is for anyone replacing an ABS control module, ABS pump, brake booster, or master cylinder. Decide first whether the fault is in the electronic module or the hydraulic unit, which are often separate parts.

What is an anti-lock brake system (ABS)?

An anti-lock brake system uses wheel speed sensors, an electronic control module and a hydraulic pump unit with solenoid valves to release and reapply brake pressure many times a second, so the wheels keep rolling and steering during a hard stop. The brake booster and master cylinder create the pressure that the ABS unit modulates.

Used vs remanufactured ABS module: which should you buy?

Buy a used OEM ABS module or pump when you want an exact factory match at the lowest cost. Choose remanufactured when your make is known for repeat electronic failures and you want the circuit board repaired and retested.

Signs your ABS module or brake parts are failing

  • ABS warning light stays on, often with the traction control light
  • Wheels lock during a hard stop with no pedal pulsing
  • Pump motor runs constantly or buzzes after the key is off
  • Hard pedal or a hiss when braking, pointing to a booster leak
  • Pedal slowly sinks at a stop, pointing to a master cylinder

ABS module

The ABS module is the computer that decides when to release and reapply brake pressure. It reads the wheel speed sensors and drives the solenoid valves in the hydraulic unit, and on many vehicles it also runs traction and stability control. Modules fail through cracked solder joints, connector corrosion, and water intrusion. A replacement must match your VIN.

ABS pump and hydraulic unit

The ABS pump, or hydraulic control unit, is the aluminum valve block with an electric motor bolted to it. Brake fluid passes through it on the way to each wheel, and the solenoid valves inside modulate pressure on command. Common failures are a seized or noisy motor, sticking valves that cause a low or pulsing pedal, and internal leaks.

Brake booster

The power brake booster multiplies the force from your foot so the master cylinder can build full pressure with light pedal effort. Most vehicles use a vacuum booster between the firewall and the master cylinder; some trucks and diesels use a hydraulic booster run by power steering pressure. A failing booster gives a hard pedal, a hiss when pressed, or a rough idle on braking.

Master cylinder

The brake master cylinder converts pedal movement into hydraulic pressure, using two separate circuits so one leak does not take out all four brakes. Internal seal wear lets the pedal sink slowly at a stop; external leaks show as fluid at the booster face. We supply used OEM and remanufactured master cylinders, sometimes attached to a booster. Bore size and ports must match.

Pre-programmed ABS modules

Many modern ABS modules store vehicle-specific configuration, such as tire size, drivetrain, and stability features, and will not work until that data is written to them. For many applications we can ship a module already programmed to your VIN, so the shop installs it, bleeds the system, and clears codes. Some vehicles still need a final configuration step with a scan tool.

Installation & programming notes

A shop replacing an ABS module typically disconnects the battery, unplugs the harness, and unbolts the module from the hydraulic unit; on some designs no brake line is opened. Replacing the pump or combined assembly means opening brake lines, so the system must be bled afterward, usually with a scan tool. Some applications need VIN programming after installation, so ask whether the unit can ship pre-programmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when an ABS control module goes bad?

The ABS warning light stays on, usually with the traction or stability control light, and the anti-lock function stops working, so wheels can lock in a hard stop. Normal braking usually still works. Some vehicles also show a pulsing pedal or an ABS pump that runs when it should not.

Are your ABS modules pre-programmed?

For many vehicles, yes. We can supply used and remanufactured ABS modules already programmed to your VIN, which avoids a dealer programming visit. On some vehicles the final configuration or bleed routine still needs a scan tool on the car, and we tell you which case applies before you order.

What is the difference between an ABS pump and an ABS control module?

The ABS pump, or hydraulic control unit, is the valve block and motor that physically modulates brake pressure. The ABS control module is the electronic controller that tells those valves when to act. On many vehicles they bolt together and are sold as one assembly; we supply modules, pumps, and complete assemblies.

How do I diagnose a failing ABS brake module?

Start with a scan tool that can read ABS codes, since the regular engine scanner often cannot. Codes such as C0265, C1214, or U0121 point to the module or its communication rather than a wheel sensor. A steady ABS light with all four sensors reading correctly also points to the module.

Should I rebuild or replace my ABS pump?

Replace it in most cases. Rebuilding the hydraulic valve block requires specialist equipment and is rarely done by general shops, while a tested used OEM or remanufactured assembly is a straightforward swap. If only the electronic module has failed and the pump is fine, replacing just the module is the cheaper route.

Do you sell brake booster and master cylinder combos?

Yes. We supply power brake boosters, brake master cylinders, and, on some listings, the booster with the master cylinder still attached. Vacuum and hydraulic boosters are both available depending on the vehicle. Tell us whether you need one part or both, and we will confirm what is included before shipping.

What information do you need for an accurate quote?

Your 17-digit VIN, the year, make, model, and trim, drivetrain, which part you need (module, pump, combined assembly, booster, or master cylinder), and the part number from the label on your old unit. Photos of the label and connector help. Use the quote form or call +1 725-208-4566.

What if the part doesn't fit?

Return shipping is free, so a wrong part costs you nothing to send back. We avoid that up front by matching every ABS module, pump, booster, and master cylinder to your VIN and the part number on your old unit before dispatch, including option-dependent details such as traction and stability control.

Do you ship to Canada?

Yes. We ship ABS modules, pumps, boosters, and master cylinders across the USA and Canada, and shipping is free. Continental US deliveries typically arrive in 3 to 5 business days, and Canadian addresses can take a little longer. Your quote will include the expected delivery window.
